Principe fondamental

Dans un portefeuille classique 60/40 (60% actions, 40% obligations), les actions dominent le risque car leur volatilite est ~3-4x celle des obligations. Résultat: ~90% du risque total vient des actions.

Risk Parity corrige cela en pondant les actifs inversement a leur volatilite, de sorte que chaque classe d’actifs contribue également au risque total du portefeuille.

Universe choisi

  • SPY: Actions US (S&P 500)
  • EFA: Actions internationales developpees (ex-US)
  • GLD: Or (actif refuge, faible correlation)
  • DBC: Matieres premières diversifiees
  • TLT: Obligations long terme US (20+ ans)

Performance actuelle (backtest v1.0)

Objectif de cette recherche

  1. Valider que le signal de vol inverse fonctionne bien sur 2015-2026
  2. Analyser la contribution au risque de chaque actif
  3. Identifier les points faibles (TLT 2020-2023, DBC volatilite…)
  4. Proposer des ameliorations si Sharpe < 0.5

3. Hypothese 1: Inverse-Vol Weighting equalise les contributions au risque

Théorie: Si on pondere chaque actif par \(w_i = \frac{1/\sigma_i}{\sum_j 1/\sigma_j}\), alors la contribution au risque de chaque actif devient proportionnelle a sa volatilite relative inversee.

Analyse de l’ecart QC vs simulation

  • Frais de transaction: QC inclut slippage + commissions ($806 sur 11 ans = negligeable)
  • 641 trades vs ~130 mensuels attendus = drift trigger actif (beaucoup de rebalancements intra-mois)
  • Beta 0.367: confirme la faible exposition directionnelle au marche
  • Alpha ~0: la stratégie ne créé pas d’alpha net au-dela du beta

Interpretation du Sharpe 0.361

Le Sharpe est legerement en dessous de la cible (0.4-0.6) pour trois raisons structurelles:

  1. TLT 2020-2023 (-40%): même avec reduction automatique du poids via vol, l’impact est reel
  2. Bull market 2015-2026: SPY pur obtient ~0.55 sur cette periode
  3. Sans levier: la RP academique utilise 1.5-2x de levier pour egaler le CAGR des actions

Conclusion

La stratégie est fonctionnelle et pedagogiquement valide. Le Sharpe de 0.36 est honnete pour: - Une periode quasi-exclusivement bull market - Sans levier - Avec TLT comme principal frein 2020-2023

L’edge demonstre: MaxDD 20.9% vs SPY 34% = protection superieure en cas de stress, au prix d’un rendement moindre en bull pur. C’est exactement le trade-off que Risk Parity est censee offrir.
